For those of you who are unaware of it's existence, Slack is a communication and collaboration tool for businesses, or indeed any kind of disparate community, allowing them to chat, share and interact in a variety of different ways.
I'm a member of 6 (six) different Slack teams for both my day to day work, as well as for fun and it's a product I wholly endorse. I have teams setup with clients that I am working with, as well some that I dive into in the evenings to chat with people in various podcast networks that have opened up Slack channels.
It's great to have a format that allows you to be both social and professional in equal measure. However, as with all applications, there is a learning curve, which is why I am so happy to be able to announce an update to the Slack Made Easy Online Course. We're now at Version 2!
The course is the brainchild of myself, Steve Dotto and Mike Vardy and together we have been able to produce something that we feel can genuinely add value if you are looking to use Slack in your work, or community environment.
Rather than adopting the traditional online course model - go to a site, click on the link for a text file, download or stream a video, move on to the next one - we decided to host whole course within Slack itself!
This offers a wide variety of benefits. The main one is the development of a learning community itself. The videos live in separate Slack channels and these channels are then used to ask questions about the content, or even ask for advice on how to use Slack in your own team!
There are over 35 (at time of posting) videos covering topics such as:
- How to set up your Slack team
- Inviting Users
- Creating channels
- Sharing Files
- Roles and Permissions
- Integrating 3rd Party Appplications
We are confident you will enjoy this course so if you are using Slack yet want to improve your skills, or looking to develop a Slack environment, make us your first port of call!
